About The East District

Mission Statement: May the unity of the Spirit mold us by the Word of God unto the perfect body attracting all men that they may be saved honoring our Lord.
The Story
The ministry of the East District began in 2005. However, it wasn't until 2006—when the late Rev. Jeff Justice was asked to serve as Chairman—that the vision for the ministry as we know it today truly came to life. In April 2006, Jeff met in Stanton, KY, with local pastors Anthony Molihan, Garland Lacy, Raymond Tipton, Steven Donithan, James Combs, and David Watson to share what God was laying on his heart.

The first East District Rally was held at Stanton First Church of God on August 9, 2006. The church was packed with congregations from throughout the local area. Following a wave of positive feedback, future rallies were scheduled for the remainder of the year and into 2007.

In 2008, the vision expanded to include the youth of the East District. The first Youth Rally was held at the Wildwood First Church of God on May 17, 2008, followed by two more that year at the Morehead and Little Paint First Church of God locations.
The East District is divided into six regions, covering the counties of Bath, Fleming, Menifee, Nicholas, Rowan, Boyd, Greenup, Lawrence, Floyd, Johnson, Pike, Breathitt, Magoffin, Morgan, Wolfe, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Laurel, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, Estill, Lee, and Powell.

Today, the ministry of the East District continues to join the churches of Eastern Kentucky together through six annual rallies, two youth rallies, and a Christmas banquet for pastors. We also share events, special services, and news to keep everyone aware of what is happening across the state.

Throughout the last 20 years, faces and names have changed, but one thing has remained constant: the vision of unity.

Ephesians 4:13: “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.”
